I've given it a go

The blue text is a bit anoying as is the change of font. Can I suggest you keep the font style the same throughout as well as the colour. Shows a more structured approach.

The ability to get a larger image is part of the page coding, I don't think you have it.

I opened your site to be greeted with site under "constructon"...

I think your style needs to be more consistent-on one page you have spaces between the shots but on the next you don't.

Site is under construction, hence why i'm asking for input ..ie,some ideas of what to do and of what not to do .It's as basic a site as you'll get ,it's just a starting point for now.Don't want to fork out my hard earned on something i wont pursue, anyways it's just summit i'm having a bit of fun with just now .Up to now ,all comments have been on the negative side ,are there any positive views out there ... i need encouragement ,coooome on :D:D:D

The site's not there anymore.

Frustrations a terrible thing ,sorry i should have said ... It's deleted,
twas crap ,plus i don't have enough computer skills to pursue it ,so there you go :(

So if failure looms, give up. Who said that the Empire was lost!

Why not go to the library and get a book out? Google is also likely to be your friend - personally I thought that it was okay for a starter.

Do it again and improve it.

Chris

Have a quick Google for w3 schools...they have some great tutorials to get you started :) Don't give up!

To hell with it ..... your all right ,i might just give it another bash .

Thanks peeps....

No problem! If the worst comes to the worst, and you have something like Lightroom that will make galleries for you, there is no reason not make one of those then pick it apart...that's how I learnt! Seemed easier to reverse engineer things, at least I knew what went where, and why!

If you want a decent looking website, you really can't go far wrong downloading and using a decent template. Yes, you'll be sharing the design with probably a number of other people but unless you're in a position to spend money on a designer coming up with something unique, anything that you design yourself, unless you're a designer, is going to look terrible.

Could I suggest you take a look here - http://www.oswd.org - for free templates. There's some terrible templates there but there's also some half decent ones. Have a look through the "Our Favourites" - http://www.oswd.org/designs/favorites/

You can always customise these templates a little to your preference.. change the colours or what not but if you want a site that is reasonably attractive and is useable and ticks all the correct boxes, then unless you're a designer, you're not going to be able to build anything that's going to be worth putting online.

How do i go about setting up the clicky for images to go full size in a basic website ?. Example ,does synthaSite have this facility ,it probably has and i'm missing it .Or you could take this as a general question for other sites (free ones):D:

The easiest way would be to just link to the URL of the full sized picture eg: www.yoursite.com/images/picturename.jpg, however that isn't really the safest, the best way would be to embed something like simpleviewer...

That OSWD site is really cool! Ta!
