got it this morning off joxby  and a bloody good camera it is too :) makes my d40 look positivly slow lol my question is whats a decent fast walkabout lens to get for it?

i dont really wanna spend more than 200 quid on it though :)

cheers

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 is a really good lens worth checking out too... fantastically sharp including wide open with a nice bokeh and neutral colour cast - amazing zoom lens for the money.

The 50mm cherryrig mentions above has loads more character and is sharper, but that's prime lenses for you - get both :)

i already have a nifty 50 :p so i was looking for something that was wideish and longish or am i asking too much for the price point ?

I've got the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5, can be had for £215 here. If you looking for something a bit long then your talking about a superzoom, like a 18-200mm or the tokina 24-200, these are a compromise so image quality can suffer.

i like the look of the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 as linked above could any one post some sample images taken with this lens?

cheers

It can be a little bit soft at the edges when used wide open, but not too bad.

I went fom the D70 to the D200 and in many respects I found the D70 better than the 200. I have since gone for the D300 and although I haven't used it much so far, I am highly delighted with it. You have made a good choice with the D70.
