A friend got this with the Pentacon 35-70 f3.5-4.5 lens a couple of flashguns, blower, some filters, strap and a nice bag for £12 at the bootie on Sunday.

Anyone have any experience with Jenaflex, it has Carl Zeiss Jenna on the front but I believe it was made by Practika. I'm not even sure that it works properly yet, it seems ok on 1/60 but on auto it takes seconds to fire.

Hi andy

The Jenaflex AM1 was released in 1986 to mark the 50th anniversary of VEB Pentacon, it cost £120.00

It is based on the Praktica BC1, On Automatic it has a stepless shutter ranging from 1/1000 to 40secs, in manual mode it is 1/1000 to 1sec.

I still have 3 BC1's, BCX, BX20 amongst others in the Praktica line, all good cameras. My first one Praktica L was bought for £79.00 in 1972 and is still working OK.

Thanks for that John. I had a play last night and the battery was in the wrong way round so now it all works fine. Flashes work also, so I think he's got a nice little kit.

Andy, If your friend wants the Instruction manual for the camera he can find it here

http://www.butkus.org/chinon/jenaflex/jenaflex_ac-1/jenaflex_ac-1.htm

As for lenses, this uses the Praktica B bayonet, you can find loads of lenses on E-Bay at pretty good prices, also Praktica made an adapter so that M42 lenses could be used as well.

Look out for the Pentacon F1.8 50mm prime, it is an extremely good lens and well worth getting.

For other Praktica lenses have alook here

http://www.praktica-users.com/lens/blenses.html

and select the lens tab across the top of the screen.

I've a tamron adaptall adapter for Practika that I was going to ebay if he's interested. Can match up up with a lens too if he's really keen! :)

Thanks for the offer Brian but he's changed his mind as his Dad has got about 5 old film cameras he can use. Its now on the bay. I may give him a slap next time I see him....:bat:
