Hi Guys,

I really need a flash and don't curently have all the ££££ to spend on one.
When doing review research on the web for review on TUMAX DPT386AFZ Auto Focus LCD Digital TTL Flash For Nikon , i came accross the jessops 360 AFD. Are this two the same think with different name?

Does any one know how it/they compaire with the nikon SB600?

Jessop is doing it at £59.99 today.

Please help me:)
 
I have one it worked fine with my D200 and D300. Don't expect SB800 performance though!
It's quite a nice flashgun and at that price you can't go wrong. Nissin do good ones too, a little dearer but a bit more flexible
If you don't like the Jessops flash, you can always take it back. They are pretty good like that

I also looked at the Sigma EF 530 DG SUPER . what do you think of it?
 
I had the 360 and now have the SB600 (had the Sb400 before the 360). The 360 is a decent unit and I think a good value for money buy. They normally sell in the classifieds for £35-£45 so a new one at £60 isn't a bad deal especially if you have a coupon or voucher for Jessops anyway.

Performance wise, the Sb600 is perfect. It does exactly what I intend for it to do when I tell the camera to do it. With flash, I shoot manual exposure and usually bounce flash in TTL. Everything works as it is supposed to and I can get balanced exposures in tough situations like this:

Maybe it could have taken a half stop less flash, but this was straight out of the camera with a neutral jpeg process.

The 360 didn't quite give me the consistency of the 600. I found it might overexpose a bit or sometimes even dump a full charge flash when it didn't need it. I linked part of it to low batteries- when the batteries were under 30% it happened more often and fresh batteries sorted it.

The other thing I like of the 600 over the 360 is the build quality. The 600 feels more solid whereas the 360 plastic felt a bit thin. Not a big deal and not worth the difference in price just for that. However it was just another thing.

Overall I'd say that the 360 is a good value first flash or spare/additional flash. The 600 is a nicer unit if you can afford the difference.

I have the Canon version of the Jessops AFD 360 and I agree with all of the above. I paid £40 second hand here and to be honest I think you will be hard pushed to find a better one for the money.
