Can anyone tell me if the joby ball head is compatible with other tripods? I've got a gorilla pod but want it to screw into my velbon df50.

It seems to just screw into the same screw on the top of the gorilla pod which fits my camera and is the same as my velbon so in theory should fit?!
 
I tried the manfrotto 496RC2 ball head and the joby ball head and got the joby in the end. It's very good, fits my gorilla pod and velbon tripods and is smooth and precise in its action.

The 496RC2 had a different thread size so would have required and adaptor but can hold an extra 1kg I think, might look at one if I upgrade to a manfrotto tripod in the future
