At the moment I have a cheap 4gb CF card but I will probably be selling it with the camera and buying something quicker, but what I can't decide at the moment is whether to get a memory stick pro duo or a CF card? Which offer the best price/performance ratio? Also, could you link me to good cards or something :) Nothing below 4gb. 8gb is ideal! And I want something fast.

Cheers!

Get CF, ideally something UDMA if you plan on using continuous drive @5fps for any length of time. Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend etc.

It's handy to have a small memory stick installed as well as a backup though.

Sandisk rock. CF will be cheaper than memory stick. Just remember that if you use 8gb & it corrupts, you loose a lot more than 2/4gb.

I buy 8gb Kingston cards. They are 133x or something, but they're plenty fast and they only cost twenty quid a pop.

I use sandisk Extreem III 4Gb cards, and also have a 4Gb MS Pro Duo HG as my 'reserve'.

The buffer on the A700 is good for 10 RAW images, so unless you are taking more than 10 in quick succession the card speed is not so much of an issue when taking shots.

You will notice with slower cards that you have to wait a moment after shooting to review the images, but I find the Extreem III fast enough not to show any noticable lag (I do notice the lag on the MS).

Where card performance does make a difference is when transfering from the camera to the PC, but time is generaly not an issue here so it becomes a matter of convienience.

Just remember to always buy a known brand from a reliable supplier - it's just not worth the savings to risk loosing your shots!
