Week 12 - Night Sky

Been a bit busy and then a bit poorly for the last couple of weeks. So this nightime shot has definitely suffered as I wanted a nice city view. But I've not been in to the office in almost two weeks.

This was taken in the garden and I think it could be a good shot, but my continued experimenting with vintage lenses probably exposed a couple of things.

The limitations of the kit

Shot on a Sony A7I and Minolta 300/4.5

Anyway, I wanted a shot of the moon through the trees at the bottom of our garden, but I think I was always too close to get the moon in focus and see any of the tree at all. SO I settled on getting the branches in focus with the moon shining through.

Snappers Choice

This one I will confess, I took before the theme, but as I've not been able to shoot anything for the last week, I'm going to use it.

This is where those older lenses did work. Just caught this guy jet washing the outside of the national theatre as the sun caught the spray.

Great images Kell, I agree that the night shot looked challenging, especially using the lens that you were using. Your Snapper's shot is fantastic, was the red and white striped line in front of or behind the man? I'm thinking that it was behind but how the smoke shows up right by his glove almost looks like a broken continuation of the line (to me).

Thanks all - the one bit I'm unsure of looking back is the shot of the packaging - feels a bit out of place as it's too colourful.

Also, it's amazing how photos pick up the bits you didn't clean...

That's a great idea, like a storyboard. It looks like most of them would work as individual images too.
 
Week 16 - Monument.

Working near the monument to the Great Fire of London, I mean I had to...

I did try and not just take a picture of it however, using reflections, street furniture and even a nearby pub to match the theme instead.

In the end, I did actually quite like the weirdness of the FISHEYE shot - even though it's a picture of the actual monument.

A great set with some very strong contenders. I like your chosen shot, and I admire your determination to move on past the Greene King pub (I don't think I would).

But your Monument Reflected shot is very good, I think I might have plumped for that.

Thanks Paul. I must admit, the reflected one was definitely up there as a possible.
