Kit lens, worth selling?

i've recently bought a 18-200mm super zoom. so i will be posting up a for sale thread on my 55-200mm very soon.

just wondering whether the 18-55mm kit lens is worth selling? it came with the camera, and the box says "with 18-55mm lens". would it be better to just store the lens to sell with the camera?

keep in mind the camera is an entry level D3100.

I really don't think it would make much difference either way when it comes to selling. I seen a fair number of ads for body only in 'kit' boxes that seem to sell fine. I bought a Canon 650D kit a few weeks ago for the wife as an update to her 550D and used the brand new kit lens when I sold the older 550D this week. If the lens is in VG condition it might get you an extra £30-40 when sold with the body, but you wouldn't get any more selling it separate anyway even if it was unused.

Probably a good idea, it's not a lot of money (though I thought it would be worth £50) and there might be a time you want a smaller, lighter lens than the 18-200. It doesn't take up much space in a camera bag.

yeah, that's pretty much what i am thinking.


18-200mm isn't that much bigger, so hopefully i won't need the kit lens. it's always best to travel as light as possible, so instead of going to 4 lens setup for wide angle, i decided it's better to consolidate 2 cheap lenses into 1 super zoom.

before:
18-55mm kit lens; 55-200mm cheapo lens; 35mm f1.8 low light.

after:
18-200mm walk about, videoing super zoom; 35mm f1.8 low light; 12-24mm wide angle.
