Laptop Spares

Acer aspire 6920G it is a for a friend she has not got much money and i said i would help to repair it

but a aftermarket screen is £80 + area so was hoping to grab a used one not much on ebay

basically a screen and prefer the housing for the screen but the screen is the main part

To be honest £80 sounds about right for a screen, if you are looking to pay less then you will get a B grade screen and that will either have marks on it or dead pixels but you are getting what you pay for.

A mate of mine runs a company who repairs laptops and has plenty of spare parts but I cant say you will get it a great deal cheaper although his prices do include fitting. Give them a call and see what they can do for you, speak to Anthony or Darren. www.circuituk.com

Your best option would be to watch out for the same model being sold as spares/repairs that the motherboard has gone. Sellers that strip these laptops then sell the screen are asking prices too close to the new price to be worth the risk buying used.

Edit: just had a look and even spares/repairs are going for over £100, so I think buy new screen at £80 is best option.

Could always plug a normal monitor into the laptop, if only to ensure it's the screen that's faulty. It could be the on-board graphics chip - new motherboard time

Sorry if the fault is obviously the screen, cracked? but you haven't specified the fault.

Alex we have our very own laptop specialist here on TP he sells spares and full working laptops.........Snapper73........
