Lee Adaptor Ring Wont Fit

I have a Sigma 15-30mm lens with a 82mm lens cap diameter so I have bought a Lee Filters 82mm adaptor ring.
I have just gone to fit it and try out my new filters but the adaptor ring won't physically go on the threaded part of the lens

The threads themselves just won't touch, am I doing something wrong here or have I ordered the wrong adaptor ring?

Doesn't it fit onto the part of the lens hood that the lens cap fits onto?

No, it doesn't seem to want to go on.

Ive just googled it and it seems they don't go on at all :bang:

Due to the extreme wide-angle character Sigma implemented a very protruding front element so there's no front filter thread by default. However, when attaching the lens cap holder (see below) there is a filter mount here (82mm). This setup may cause edge shading at the widest setting though. There's a gelatin filter slot at the rear of the lens (useful for color filters for B&W photography).

So is this peculiar to the Lee ring?

Ive never tried any other ring on it.

On that lens hood pictured there is a thread on the inside but as mentioned the Lee ring just won't touch it.

Odd, I'm sure that I used an 82mm filter on the one I just sold, though it wouldn't have been a Lee, probably Hoya.

it dont fit
i used a hoya P serries clued to the top of a coffee lid that fitted over just like the lenns cap if I have time ill post a pick
also at tthe wide end it lik elooking through a port hole (forgot mine a full frame camera)

this what i did it also stops light getting into the side never use it now as gone full fram the 24 -70 wide enough for me

I had the same problem with the 77mm wide angle adaptor ring on my 17-55, I solved the problem by sticking a filter onto the lens first and the ring fits the filter fine.

is this a general problem with the 82mm adaptor rings[standard and wide],as i'm about to invest in a lee filter system,and my 24-70 has an 82mm thread?
