Hi

So I am trying to decide if I spend on a Lee CPL

My purchase so far is foundation holder and wide angle lens adapter plus 0.75 hard nd grad

I won't be buying everything this year so trying to prioritise which item filter wise to buy.

The CPL with holder seems to be about £270 for the same or less I could buy additional soft grad and big stopper.

I see the lens hood is pricey as well £100 plus

I have in the past paid over a £100 for a B&W CPI but wow Lee is expensive what would be general opinion go CPL or go big stopper

Many of you using the lens hood is it worth the money

Thanks for reading hope maybe you can help point my direction.

Are you really going to use CPL so much you can't have the normal screw in version? Can you not blend exposures? Can you not hold soft grad in front of regular CPL when you take those 2 images in the month? Lee kit is far overpriced IMHO for what it does and how quickly it can be destroyed. The resin filters are frankly consumable items

Thanks guys

Square circular filter I did look at those however the issue I was not fond of was that other than buy the pro kit I could not use the grads may I ask in what way you found the 105mm harder to use please.

Re blend images nope never done that though have used HDR, actually I agree the resin filters are consumables and yes darned expensive lol

The problem with hand holding the grad in front of the CPL is you will speed up the destructive nature of the resin, plus it may be cheaper buying one expensive CPL than one for each lens should you have many lens

Thanks again

I use mine with the foundation kit and never found it to be a problem with grads.
If turning the cpl causes the holder to be at the wrong angle for the grad its simply a matter of taking the cpl out, turning it 90 degrees and putting it back in the holder.
Trust me, it works!

Meant to say I also have the lee wide angle hood, I don't use it that often to be honest.
Ditto the big stopper. I have a lee 3 stop nd glass filter that I use much more frequently.

Hi

Sorry for delay of reply, I kind of went crazy bid won a 105mm circular polariser managed to get a big stopper in classifieds also ordered a RF remote trigger.

I am apart from UV filters on the lens going fully Lee it's expensive and like many things amateurs buy could not justify price but that little thing "want" reared the head

I think I may buy either a little stopper or the 3 stop model will wait hand see, probably still buy the 2 stop soft fade grad as well not sure when

The hood idea unsure I managed to find a review where a problem on tripod and wind was an issue maybe on FF or medium format the weight would hold but my small apsc sensor model might not be a good idea

Thank you for the ideas it's much appreciated
