Lens advice please.

This coming weekend I am going to take some shots of the latest addition to our clan, he is 5 months old.
Which lens and settings would you use, I have a 24mm-85mm and a 50mm lens.

50mm.

As for settings, indoors outdoors dark light sunny raining? Only you can call it on the day TBH.
 
Don't know about the zoom but the 50mm would be my choice.
 
Use both and try different focal points and low f#s

Shooting in Raw?

Probably the 50mm would be very nice in f1.? or f2-2.8... then some at f4 and f8 with other people holding the baby.

If you use a flash, you need to diffuse it and poss bounce off ceiling...

Most of all - enjoy it - I did with my niece :) and I have lots of shots now lol!
 
if you were using a dx body i would go for the 35 f/1.8G but since its a d700 fx a 50 would be best
