Lens cleaning

Hi all,

I have a 17-40mm f4L and have some fingerprint smears on the front element.

Having done some research, I came across Eclipse lens and CCD cleaning fluid, PEC pads and a Giottos Q blower for about £30 in total.

Will this combination successfully clean the front element without damaging any anti flare coating etc?

I've been into photography for about 10 years and have never had the need to clean front element optics before :shrug:

This is the stuff they sell for astronomy scope optics, which I have used for years on camera lenses LINK

Don't forget to use a blower before any type of wet clean

Thanks for the suggestions and advice.

I purchased Pec Pads, Eclipse Cleaner and Giottos Rocket Blower but have yet to christen the new products.

Just wondering with regular cleaning, whether the coating on the front element degrades over time, particularly on L lenses.
