Lens comparison working at 400mm range

Has anyone compared these three lenses?

Canon 100-400mm IS L series

I'm debating on which Lens to go for, on price the Sigma 120-400mm OS is the more attractive proposition, but would like to know if anyone has this one or any of the others for a good comparison and sample images if poss. I want to get the further reach for wildlife and bird photography, I'm using a 70-200mm L IS with 2 x converter and lose quality at 400mm!

I'm testing a 400mm f5.6L this weekend, will try to remember to post feedback here. If it is going to be in addition to the 70-200 in theory the image quality of a prime will beat that of a zoom.
 
Not tried the 2 sigma's but i've had the 100-400mm Canon and i'd be gobsmacked if the other two were 1/2 as good as it, quality glass is a good investment, it costs more to buy but as long as it's in good condition you'll realise 75-80% back if you ever want to sell.
 
I had the forerunner of the Sigma the 135-400. No IS but was a reasonable bargain when I got it. However I went very quickly over to the Canon 100-400IS.

The Canon was much, much quicker at focusing. The Sigma I had was too slow for anything moving "fastish." The IS is a godsend when hand holding. Image quality, the Canon is better, but the IS and the faster focus is where it scores.

I would say though the Canon does go a bit soft after about 375mm. I tend to lock it at 350mm and crop if I need to. I did consider the 400mm f5.6 as this is a very sharp lens, but the versatility of the zoom swayed me.

The 1.4 Canon converter does a better job than the 2x. OK it doesn't give you the magnification, but the image quality is better.

As you have a 5Dll I would look at the Canon. I use mine with a 5DMk1 and a 1Dslll. You've lots of resolution from the camera, I think you may be wasting it without good glass. Not knocking the Sigma, but I really do think the Canon is the better option ( If you can afford it.)
