Lens hood for nifty fifty

If it is like the Nikon one it does not need one because the outer part of the lens shields the front glass! Is this what the Canon one is like?

I could sell you one. But only if Nikon fit screw on lens hoods fit Canon threads. Which I presume they might?

I gots me one from ebay, innit? It was cheap but has a flock lining and does offer good protection for the front of the lens. I can't recall the proper code for the official item but if you find it and type it on the ebay search function you should find a few third party items. They are only about £5 each, get me?

I have one on my Niffty its the Canon ES-62 if that helps.

Yep i have one too although it's at home. I will check the product code and let you know later.

I wouldn't put a hood on a nifty fifty, the front element is already deep. The lens hood just adds length to the protruding front element. You could hit something with the hood on (which can damage the lens) that you could have missed without it. Just my own reasoning.

On a 50 f1.4, hood is a must as the hood protects the protruding front element.
