This little fella was outside on the patio just a minute ago took us by suprise.

Defo Common Lizard, newts have orange bellies and live by water in or around, and there is not much of that here except rainwater. We are always getting them in the garden but this was the first one this year.

It's 100% a newt. Looks like a female Smooth (or Common) Newt to me.

I think it is a male smooth newt, certainly not a lizard.
