I recently submitted a silhouette of the London Eye skyline to IStockphoto and was denied, because the London Eye skyline is copyright...

I never even knew that!! I was utterly shocked...

They said that I would need a property release, for a bloody skyline!

Did they specifically say for the skyline in which case it is absurd because this is usaully an exception to property releases.

I'm no expert but I am wondering whether you needed to obtain permission from the London Eye, because it is private property and you were taking photos from it which you are now trying to sell....

The photos were taken from the other side of the river, so I wasn't on their property.

In that case you would probably need a property release for the London Eye, likewise is required for House of Parliament or St. Pauls if you are using images commercially.
