Looking for digital camera <£250 whats best???

Looking for digital camera <£250 suggestions on which is best for general everday photography and also possibly taking some up to 250mm long shots if possible.

best is very subjective but if by best you mean image quality for me it would be a used DSLR and two lenses.

Example - Canon 20d with 18-55 and 55-250 lenses.

However, best for carrying around and putting in pocket then couldn't be further away than my example above...
