Hi guys, so I'm an amateur photographer, my background is in video and I have owned and worked with some video camera's a few years ago; Sony PD150 and Sony Z-series camera's, the last one I owned was a Z7 which I sold out a few years ago.

I now only take stills with a Nikon D200 which I love but I think it's time to move on from that camera now so I can do both still and video photography from one camera.

The last time I looked into this, a few years ago, everyone was raving about the Canon 5d's and 7d's and my intention was to buy one of these when I had the money.

Recently I have inherited some money, so I'm now ready to buy! My budget is between £1000 - £5000, allowing for insurance and decent lenses.

My intentions are to find a practical camera with an interchangeable lens which is realistically portable and able to take decent stills and shoot professional video. Also I don't want to be worrying about memory all of the time, though I understand with the Canon camera's I will have to keep clearing the memory card? Or have things moved on already?

I've lost touch with the camera world for the past 2 year or so, so I'm looking for some advice.

I'm due to go travelling around South America in August, so I want to buy something by then.

Any advice hugely appreciated!

Thank you,

Alex
