Looking to replace my tripod head to save weight

Hi,

I recently bought a used 190XPROB manfrotto tripod that came with a 488RC2 head. This head is quite bulky and heavy. As such I would like to find a replacement ball head that will hopefully be less weight and less bulk. I'd still like to retain sturdiness though. I mainly use a D90 with a Tokina 11-16mm lens.

Can anyone suggest a replacement head? My budget is up to £60ish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
 
I'm assuming it was a 498rc2 you got with the tripod (I can't find a 488, but might just be me) ?
If you're happy with it and just want something smaller for under £60 then what about a 496rc2 or maybe a joby ballhead x ? Their max load is lower but they are smaller and lighter.
There's a chance someone could be looking to swap from a smaller head to a larger one, you could try the classifieds to save you needing to buy one.
 
The 496 isn't much smaller, about 1cm but it is almost a third lighter if that makes much difference ?

Benbo do a compact head here or here as well. It's smaller and lighter than the manfrotto one.

Thanks, mainly I'd like it to be lighter. But I still want the head to be wide enough so I can tighten the three screws on the base (to make it sturdier).Will those Benbos facilitate that?
 
Oh and it needs to have a quick release plate.

I have no idea whether the benbos offer that capability. Maybe you'll need to have a look around their product pages or google for that info. :)

This looks decent! Is the base wide enough to allow the three screws to tighten against it?
