looking to upgrade my canon 1000d

Hey guys im looking to upgrade my canon 1000d obviously to a newer canon, but there are so many i dont know which are new ones and which are older, is there a list somewhere i can look at, im looking to spend up to £800 max, i just want the body really as i have all the lens. anyone got any ideas. i have been looking at the Canon EOS 60D Body Only and the Canon EOS 600D but how do i know which is newer?
 
The 600D is newer, but it is a different range to the 60D. The models are both the newest ones in their particular ranges.

Before upgrading though, think about why you feel you need to upgrade and make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. What is it that you feel the 1000D is lacking?
 
Don't worry about which is newer, just go by which one's specs will suit you best.
What doesn't your 1000D do for you that a better model would?
£800 spent on lenses could buy you some great quality glass, which will give you a much bigger boost in image quality than upgrading the body.

What lenses do you currently own and what do you shoot?
 
hey, im looking for a camera that i can video on, and a camera that will take me to the next level, any maybe produce better quality images. but would a lens improve the quality of the pictures i have ordered a 10-20mm sigma lens which will be here wednesday. but i didnt know if lens are held back by the camera.
 
The 60D is supposed to be excellent for video, but I don't know about the 600D, might be just as good.
 
the lens i own are the 50mm f/1.8, the kit lens 18-55, 55-250, and the sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 ex dc hsm
 
The 600D's only big difference as far as I'm aware is a smaller, cheaper body compared to the 60D, video is exactly the same.

Lenses will dramatically increase your image quality. If you really want to step up your camera, find yourself a second hand 40D or 50D at a stretch and start buying some primes.

Look through the Most Interesting shots in the various 1000D flickr groups - No camera will turn you into an amazing photographer, and lenses can only help as far as you are able to use them
 
great ok thanks for that maybe i will stick with what i got for the moment then, i will see what my 10-20mm lens is like when it arrives.
