I did recently buy a Leica D-Lux 4 and when i imported the images into lightroom i found a very bright pixel or small group of pixels in the same place on each image. On doing some testing it seems that there is a fault but only in the RAW setting. Also 'it' decided when to record in RAW or Jpeg which was bloomin annoying so it is being picked up tomorrow for a refund.

So i'm back to square one but have at least decided to go with a compact with a bigger sensor. The choices are:

Pano GF1: Great image quality and inter changeable lenses. I can use my old Olympus OM Manual lenses with an adapter.

Olympus F-P1: Almost as good as the GF1 and again i can use my old Zuiko lenses

Ricoh DG3: No Zoom :( but superb Image Quality getting 5/5 in Digital Camera Essentials!!

To be honest it's down to the Lumix and the Ricoh GRIII,

Your thoughts....

:D I hate that!! I may have to go to Curry's!

Does anyone know if the Lumix GF1 has AF Confirm when using older Zuiko OM Lenses?

Or

can you zoom into the subject on live view in order to focus the Manual focus lens?

Just found this which answers my question!

"Manual focus is performed using the focus ring on the lens. If you've activated the MF assist function the image will be magnified to 5x or 10x as soon as you turn the focus ring. It's surprisingly usable."

Curry's :nono:

The place I got mine from are Panasonic and Ricoh main agents, but the GF was nearly £100 cheaper than Curry's ;)

May be worth waiting to see what the big announcement from Olympus is on 31st as the rumours currently are the release of a E-P2. What (major) improvements they could have made over the E-P1 in such a small time I don't know.

It's rangefinder version of the E-P1 from what I've been told

Lumix. Or Leica X1 if you can manage with a fixed lens. Nice piece of jewelry (that's what these camera's are in the main, IMHO ;) ).

The Leica X1 is about £1,300 which is way out my price range!!

RIGHT!!!!

Placed an order for the GF1. All in all it has just about everything i'm looking for so providing there are no dodgy pixels it should be a great camera. The example images on flickr certainly look promising.

EDIT: Having a prob with card...nuts!! Will have to order next week :(

After playing with a 450d i have bought one of them! It's halfway between my old 40d and a GF1. It;s light and fits nicely in my hand, I didn't like the feel of the GF1 although it was built like a brick! (that's a good thing!! :)) I just need a decent lens and i'll be sorted!
