M42 adapter query.

I quit enjoy using manual FD lenses on my 450D using an FD-EOS converter, which isn't chipped.

I now want to have a try with M42 lenses and was wondering which adapter to choose, chipped for AF, or unchipped.

Any advise would be very much appreciated.

Do you struggle with focusing? If so, get an EMF AF confirm chipped adapter. This will let you micro adjust the AF confirm to match your camera body (a bit like the Canon 50D and 7D do with AF lenses). If you don't use AF confirm, save yourself a tenner and get a cheap unchipped one! I've had no complaints with M42 adapters from ebay sellers jinfinance and big_is.

i'd get the af confirm adaptor, using the viewfinder on an entry level dslr to manually focus is a pain in the arse. i found using live view on my sony to be far better when manually focussing.

i'm moving to canon and hoping that the xxd cameras larger viewfinder will make using my m42 mf lenses a bit easier, so an af confirm adaptor is on my list.

to avoid me making another thread - is the adapter a screw on type that will allow me to fit my screw on lenses onto my clicky canon digital eos body?

this is the fastest i have ever gone to ebay!

edit: bagged a metal one from a UK buyer. Can't wait to test it out!
