I wonder if anybody could help.

The tiny scroll button / wheel / ball on top of the mouse has stopped working in the upwards direction. This is only on screen not physically. It works for scrolling downwards but not up. Is it possible I have altered a setting some where?
Or has anybody got any other ideas???

I want see if there is anything I can do before I get another one. I have justed looked on line and they are £34, now that is a bit steep I think.

Mine did this. It could be crud/grease in the wheel sensor. Try using an alcohol wipe and wiping the ball in all directions.
 
That is something I was thinking, but how the hell do I get into it.
I would have no problem with windows mice, but I have no idea on how to crack this open without fubar'ing it up!!!
 
Didnt need to open mine. Just use a wet cleaner on the ball itself and itll work the alcohol/moisture round to clean the sensor.
 
It doesn't even need to be anything stronger than water on a lint free cloth, just have the cloth wrapped around your finger and roll the ball around for a bit.
 
Mine does this too but only intermittently, one of the very few things I don't like about my Mac. Will try giving it a clean next time.
 
Now just got to find my alcy wipes!!!

Would be wary of using water - the reason for alcohol is that itll evapourate.
 
Here's what to do.

Turn the mouse upside down and lightly push the mouse around (resting on the ball) on a white sheet of paper for 30 seconds. A light dab of water on the ball might help if it doesn't leave anything behind on the paper.
