Macbook (Unibody) HDD Question

Hi All,

I have just purchased a 500Gb 7200rpm drive because i want the speed and space, but someone then mentioned (after i made the perchase) that these drives can be really loud and cause vibrations. (They have a 7200rpm drive in there old white macbook)

Has anybody got any experience of those issues or is it just them?

If its as bad as he says it is then i need to cancel my order and get a slower one.

switching from 5400-7200 for me gave no increase in either noise or vibration

The heat generated is dramatically greater though, so if you do work on your lap, it'll get hot.

That was the other thing i was warned about but i'm getting a rubber case for the bottom part because it already gets really hot when using it on my lap.
