OK, it was pretty low tech!.....

A CD-R (or the Suzanne Boyle album if you dont have a spare blank CD :LOL:)
Some Glycerin (ebay!)
A toothpick or blunt needle syringe

Place some drops of glycerin on a CD, place the CD on an upturned mug (happens to be just the right height for the flash guns)

Position two flashguns (in this case two Sb-600's) so they're facing the droplets.

Shoot manual. Colour, dof etc all rather a case of trial and error!

The lighting effect is from the heavily diffused halogen light of the cooker hood mixed with the flash. (the top of the hob is one of my favourite set-up positions because a) It creates some great lighting effects b) It annoys the living daylights out of the wife.)

This ones had some hue and saturation tweaks in PS.

Its Glycerin (dirt cheap on the bay). As recommended by the master Carl himself. So much better than water.
