Macro Frustrations - is Raynox the answer?

I've got a Sigma 50mm 2.8 Macro that gives 1:1 which is great, except that to achieve 1:1 I have to get withing a couple of cms of the subject. Ok for inanimate objects, but makes [live] bug pictures nigh on impossible.

Would a Raynox macro "thingy" used with either my 70-200 f4 or 24-105 f4 allow me to achieve decent macro from a greater distance?

Also in my kit bag are a 1.4x TC and some tubes. Maybe these could help?

So, I guess the question is what would be the best option for me without having to shell out a few hundred on a Tamron 90, Canon 100 or similar?

Thanks
Gary

If you have a set of tubes, why don't you try them?

With your 70-200, you will get 1:1 with a full set of tubes (my Kenkos are 68mm together) and lens at 150mm, distance from front element is about 6cm. Much better quality than a Raynox.
