I'm intruiged by macro but am would rather spend real money somewhere more useful (to paid work)

how do you work the aperture if I reversed say my 50/1.4 ?

I think you have to fit lens, set aperture and then push the DOF preview button and hold it while you remove the lens.

Not sure where I read that :)

I've been playing with M42 -> Eos adapter and old pentax MF lenses then using a 49->49mm threaded ring to couple lenses with the filter threads.

right, so in theory I could use say an fd or m42 50mm and it would be the same.....

hmmm I have a helios 58/2 laying around here might be picking up an adapter :D

Don't think you can do it with a FD as they are wide open when off the body. I did it with a old pratika mount lens that i could adjust the aperture with it reverse mounted.

just get a lens with an aperture ring - doesn't matter what make as your reverse mounting it

epic, well I have a few for film bodies

would I be better off reverse mounting to another lens (say my 50mm) or to the body?

say one of these with my helios screwed onto it (will look up what filter size it is d'recly)

what are preferred focal lengths for this kinda stuff?

Tomas mentions his 50mm and his 24mm
