Madarin Ducks

Only last week I was comenting on Mandarin's and on Monday while waiting to return from Sandander In Spain I came across a park with a open pond and there where two pairs of Mandarin's and wood ducks.

A nice hour passed as I watched.

The ducks were free to leave but it seams they desided to stay

Never noticed them before even though I visit every year for a few days.

The female in the background of the first is a wood duck

Are you sure about that? It looks like a female Mandarin to me. They're very similar at first glance, but the eyes are the wrong colour for a Woodie.

Fairly sure it was a woodie but could be wrong. I did have a pic of the female Madarins so when I get on the pc I will check to make sure.

Here is a shot of the other pair of wood ducks. The female is sleeping but looked to have the markings as the one in pic 1
