Magnifying eyepiece

I wear varifocal glasses and find some difficulty in seeing the read-out in the viewfinder in bright light. If I take my glasses off it is blurred and if I leave them on I have difficulty in shutting out stray light.

I saw advertised the other day a magnifying eyepiece, DK-17M, for a Nikon which I thought might help.

Has anyone any tips for spectacle wearers or knows anything about the above eyepiece? Do they in fact make one for the D5000 and are they worth having?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the rubber eye cup. I use one on the D3.

not sure if you can fit one to the D5000.

Thanks for that suggestion Graham, that's a possibility. Varifocals make it a bit more difficult to see the read-out. That's why I was also thinking of the magnifyer if anyone has used one.

Mmm, never even thought of that one. Don't know if the D5000 has adjustment, I will have to look. Thanks.

Well, now I feel downright daft! Done as you suggested and a 100% improvement.
Probably will get a rubber eyecup though to make it more comfortable with glasses.
