Making use of a Canon 420ez flash

I'm about to finally go digital & I know that my current Canon 420EZ flash isn't compatible with any of the current EOS digital range of cameras. However is there a way I could use it as a stand alone flash e.g. to illuminate a background or as a second fill. If so what would be the cheapest way of going about this

If the flash is compatible with triggers then you can pick a set up for a few £ from eBay. I'll check with mine & get back to you on that one
