Been given this lens which I know nothing about and was wondering if I could buy an adaptor to fit on my old 20D?

A quick Google tells me that they made lenses (which some say were pretty ho-hum, but they could be wrong...) in the usual mounts so I suppose the first job is to identify what mount it is...

Once that's identified it'll probably be possible to buy an adapter off ebay for £5-10 but the next question is would you want to?

I have a number of legacy lenses and they're a joy to use on my MFT G1 but the saving feature is that I can call up a magnified view which aids focusing. On the 20D you can't call up a magnified view so you'll be focusing by eye only, although you could zone focus or hyperfocal.

Personally I wouldn't bother using manual lenses on a 20D. I tried my Olympus Zuiko lenses on my 5D and although the results were good I didn't like squinting through the 5D and trying to focus manually, but maybe your eyes are better than mine.

Thanks Alan, as it cost me nothing I might offer it on here for free to a good home.
I got an adaptor for an old Pentax 50mm 2.8 manual focus and just love the bokeh on it, but my eyes are nearly 50 yrs old and starting to fail me.

I think the problem is identifying what mount it is.

I've just had a look at my Olympus Zuiko and Minolta Rokkor lenses and yours could be either... I can't tell...

If you think that you might get a compact system camera some day it might be worth keeping the lens, but the first thing to do is work out what mount it is. Are there no markings on the lens that'd give a clue?
 
Can't see any clues as to which mount, so tried it on my OM10. It fits, but loosely and now I can't get it off. Having a numpty day..

Had a fiddle this morning and managed to get the lens off without causing any damage to the camera as my OM lenses still go on with ease. Guess I'll throw the Makinon in the bin, it didn't cost me anything..

Just had a quick google and it looks like an MD mount?
 
Stick it on ebay, you'll get a few quid for it, there's actually a large following for the old manual lenses, i've got about a dozen of them, everything from zeiss to tamron to mamiya, sure they're harder to focus and useless in a fast focus situation like sports, but they do have individual traits that make them appealing to us older photographers who remember when that's all there was. portraits, macros and landscapes are easy enough and getting a good shot is kind satisfying. not sure if there's a converter for canon to MD mount though. but someone might like it and there's still a lot of film users out there.

Thanks for that, I really need to ID what mount it actually is before I can bay it.

I still shoot film myself and would have liked to keep it, but it doesn't fit any of my film camera's unfortunately.
