Judging by the lack of reports and pictures on local sites, I don't think it's been a great winter for them, Dale. There's actually a flock at the end of my street feeding on the beech mast in a mini-orchard type garden, but they're pretty much inaccessible, at least they were there a week back anyway.

In truth, I was told about this Brambling family (a fairly even mix of male and female and a few juveniles with them) at a different location, where the picture is taken from, and so it's not my find. Either way, I enjoyed watching them for a couple of hours.
