Hey Everyone :)

I took this yesterday at Stubbers Green (near Aldridge in the West Midlands) after going there looking for an Iceland Gull. It's only my second day using the Canon 500D and 55-250mm lens - just wondered what everyone thought?

A fair shot Rob - maybe could have been better with a lower angle? (duck level!) - can see the light isn't great but Mallard drakes have great colour and can still look stunning in dullish light - in sunshine they literally sparkle!

I agree that a lower PoV would be an improvement, and as a general statement this is absolutely right. At this location, if this was taken from the platform then it is all but impossible to get lower, without swimming that is :puke:, but thats a local issue. The water there is murky too and with poor light, I feel you did ok overall. As Geoff said, they can be a very colourful bird and are often overlooked (y)
