Have the pleasure of the long trip up to see the in laws and the pleasure of taking my daughter to see one direction.In order to get over this I will need to take myself away for some me time. Will be staying in Ashton under lyne .Can anyone suggest any good locations for some landscape shots .Possibly Saddleworth or Alderley edge are the only places I can think of to dive out quickly. Thanks in advance for any help
 
Type in Salford Quays into google images its fabulous especially when it gets dark.
 
Many thanks for all the replies looks like some good locations to try. Gonna have to do a go compare with the peaks and my backyard ,dartmoor. Grogues stunning photo mate , hope I can get away long enough to get off the beaten track.will post my results .cheers
 
Alderley Edge has a great view out towards the Peak District.

Also if you head through Macclesfield and begin driving up the Cat & Fiddle route, there's some nice landscape shots to be had...
