Manderin duck

Ducks don't tend to hold any interest for me when it comes to photography.
However, I think Manderins are stunning and always find it hard to resist them.
The main reason I recently bought a Canon 100-400L was for wildife and with the weather being so crap the last week or so, I was glad to have at least one day to try it out.

Shame I didn't compose the shot to take the reflection into account.

I agree they are facinating - when you look at them they don't look as if they could fly.
We have some pairs locally. I also like the sofisticated markings on the female.

Looks like the recent weather has put a lot of silt into the pond.
