Here's a nice little 'sunny 16' exposure guide I found yesterday. Something to print and keep in your camera bag in case your battery packs up or you don't want to bother with a meter. A very good learning tool too.

There's a Scottish term for dank, gloomy weather: Dreich

I really like "dreich" days. They can make for beautifully atmospheric photographs.There's mist and fog. Moisture on the ground. Droplets on things. Lovely!

Bright days with a flat grey overcast skies are the worst.

Unless you're photographing in a wood and don't want the harsh contrast, or taking church interiors and want an easier time with stained glass and dark fabric.
