MB-D80 Question

Hi All have just acquired a MB-D80 off of eBay

Although the seller has said it is full working order I am not of that opinion myself.

I tested it when I got it and all the functions worked as they should so duly left positive feedback.

However I now discover that the batteries are being drained very quickly, they don't last more than a day off of a full charge.

Am I right in my thinking that something is amiss here?

Surely the batteries should hold that charge as normal should they not?

Having not had a MB-D80 before I would appreciate some advice from someone who does and what there experience is of battery draining/holding a charge is

For the record I am using genuine Nikon batteries

Thanks in advance

Are the batteries getting unusually warm/hot after normal/extended periods of use?
Would/could a potential short circuit in the grip somewhere lead to shorter run times?!

I pretty sure the grip I bought was defective

I lodged a not as described dispute on eBay after getting no response from the seller and within a day of doing that I got a full refund from the seller.

Once the funds have cleared my bank account I will send it back to him and look elsewhere for a grip
