memory card slot cleaner

hey im new here and have a general question.

i just ordered on ebay a camera cleaning kit.

it comes with a memory card slot cleaner and i have never heard of this.

does anybody use them and are they safe as i done wanna mess up my camera.

maybe i will just put them to one side and just use the other stuff

Not heard of anyone having a dirty slot.

I suppose the contacts could become gummed up, but I would wait until that happens before messing about trying to clean it.
