Memory Card Stuck

Yes
I have a Nikon D500. I decided to get a new memory card, and got a 64GB CFexpress card. I did the required firmware update, and then put the memory card in, took a couple of pictures to see if it was recording images, it was, so I tried to take the memory card out. I press down, and it didn't pop up like the XQD card did, so tried to pull it up and it is stuck half way in/out! I can push it back in, but I can't get it out. What do I do?

oh no.... I'm not sure about Nikon, on canon there is a little eject button next to the cfexpress slots - maybe try to see if there is one of those?

1. The Proper Release Method
  • Power Off and Wait: Turn off your D500 and completely remove the battery. CFexpress cards can run very hot, and sometimes heat causes the card to expand slightly or trigger a safety catch.
  • Re-seat the Card: Push the card firmly inward until you feel and hear the spring-loaded click, then release your finger.
  • The "Slip" Technique: If a standard push-release fails, push the card in deeply with your thumb, and quickly let your finger slip off the end. The snap release and inertia can help clear the catch. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Manual Extraction
  • Give it a Tug: Because CFexpress and XQD slots are a tight, rugged fit by design, they often require a surprisingly firm tug to pull out after disengaging the spring.
  • Use Pliers Carefully: If the card remains lodged, grip the lip of the card gently with needle-nose pliers and pull straight outward. Note: Wrap the plier jaws in electrical tape to avoid scratching the card, and use gentle pressure
