Good evening all,

I was fortunate enough to be down in Cornwall last week and was blessed with a clear night to do some astrophotography and was determined to get a good one of the Milky Way.

This image is composed of 18 separate shots taken while down in Cornwall on a beautifully clear night. Not having the luxury of a super wide angle lens I had to make do with my 35mm Nikkor and then stitch the images together in Photoshop. One thing the Nikkor does have in it's favour is a f1.8 max aperture which is perfect for astrophotography. I then edited the final image to bring out the colours and detail in the Milky Way itself.

Very nice, was this on Saturday the 23rd by any chance? ;)
 
It was actually the day before on the 22nd August. Couldn't go on the Causeway as they were bleaching it to prevent seaweed so set up on the rock where the boats pick up from.

Stunning photo. Wouldn't of even known it was stitched. May I ask how one does astrophotography? Such as what settings you use etc.
