Millipedes are found in most parts of the world, they are Myriapods, which means they have a short head, long segmented body and many pairs of legs. Each body segment has two pairs of legs. This one is on a housebrick - you can see old cement and some mosses and a small splinter of a dead plant stem...

Thanks for the info, lovely second shot too.

Just out of curiosity do you end up laying belly down on the floor to get these or is it just me that always seems to end up doing that (only had a camera for about two weeks so I'm no doubt missing tricks!)
