Minimum shutter speed for 5Dii

Can you set the minimum shutter speed on a canon 5d mkii so you dont have to worry about it dropping to low? If so how?
 
personally i would go manual

Av would only set you Aperture on the camera and it will then read the conditions of light at that moment in time so if you was at F2.8 and in a dark room it would adjust to a slow shutter speed

doesn't really matter to a degree what F number (aperture) it is as it would still go for a longer exposure by going on the amount of light the camera measure's

if you go manual you have far greater control over the camera and to be fair i find some times in AV or TV the settings can be slightly out any way so i prefer to spend a little more time and use manual
 
why would you want to do this though what would it achieve from not going to manual settings surely it would take longer to go into the settings to keep adjust the Av settings every time ????

would be interested to know if you can do this though
 
Canon implemented it into the Mkiii, i've needed it before, but went manual..

I'll have a look through ML..

Once the camera gets to the minimum shutter speed, it should then start ramping ISO. The ability to do this allows you to trade off image noise against minimum shutter speed as lighting conditions change. Given M mode on the 5D2 is fixed aperture, shutter speed and ISO, the 5D2 doesn't have a mode that allows you to fix or set maximum/minimum values for 2 of the 3 exposure settings and let the 3rd be worked out automatically by the camera.
 
You can use auto ISO to do this. It's in the red menu

This is what im trying to achieve.
Although auto iso will increase, it seems to prefer iso 400 so in some conditions will still drop the shutter speed too low in av.
 
You can set the minimum shutter speed in auto ISO, it's in the red menu as above, I don't think it goes high enough, but the 7d2 will allow any shutter speed to be set

Not on the 5D2 it isn't ;)
 
Canon's auto ISO has traditionally been in the dark ages, recently it's better though but not on the mk2...

Oops I read it as mkiii

You can on the 3 not the 2 and the 7d2 finally gets it right.
 
Oh well looks like its just abit more work for me to do rather then the camera! Lol ☺
