Mobile Broadband Connection Software

Just wondering if there is any kind of open source mobile broadband connection manager software?
Having some problems with Threes own software.

I use Nokia's own software, but then I have a Nokia.

I've got a Three Mobile Broadband dongle and it works fine but I'm trying to run the connection manager off an external HD and it doesn't like it for some reason, that was why I was trying to see if there was some other software I could use.

Some software will not run unless it is installed on the root drive, CS3 is a good example.

I would try and find out who made the dongle and see if they have software.

Is this a plug n play dongle or does it come with a CD?

Why are you trying to run it from an external HDD? Why not just install it onto the laptop and see what happens?

Not free but I use launch2net from novamedia, not sure if it will run from an external drive though, although I think there is a demo version you could try.
