Done a search but cannot really find the answer I am looking for.

I will hopefully be attending the silverstone moto gp this year and from what i can gather from posts on here a monopod is a good bet.

Now i can see monopods on ebay with heads and also without.

Do you really need a head on a monopod for motorsport??

the monopod without a head just screws into lens clip/camera I take it and will be fixed at 90degrees to the monopd , but surly if your taking pics of passing bikes that would be ok would it not??

All answers appreciated

My first cheapo monopod fixed straight to the lens foot, it was ok. When I upgraded to a Manfrotto I also got a ball head, the QR plate is a big advantage. You could also try the pouch on a belt and a ball head for this would be essential.

i had a manfroto head it seamed pointless most of the time on a monopod.

as i use the monopod with a nikon 70-200 2.8 now, which has a quick release foot

i leave the foot on the monopod [which i also use as a walking stick]

and use that as my quick release, you can also turn the lens in its collar.

its quick and easy and saves a bit of weight.

so if your lens has a similar setup maybe that would work for you.

ps if you do want both morris photo do a good price on both from the drop down menu on the sales posts
