I love the texture in that 2nd one. Did you try it in B&W at all? (I'm at work at the mo, so I can't really have a play with it...)
 
I think the focus and exposure are great in the first pic, I like the texture as well in the second but, I'm afraid the composition doesn't work for me.

Did try it the second one in b+w catdaddy but couldn't seem to get it right. Feel free to have a play by all means :)

And I tend to agree Jewel, I do like the second one but not as much as the first :)
 
now thats strange, because i like the second better, maybe its just me.

its all subjective, like favourite colours, or blonds or brunettes, personal taste will always play a part in your final decisions!

personally, #1 is the better for me
 
I like them both, the angles in one are great and it's nice and simple. No 2 has lovely texture, could do well as B&W as well.
