Well its done, my 24-70 is sold, and I am going to be replacing it with a 35mm and potentially a 50mm to go along with my 85mm. There was a time when I didn't shoot any primes because I didn't see the point in loosing the versatlity of a zoom, but in the last few months I have found myself gravitating more and more towards them. Its a little scary and it will take an adjustment but its one that I'm pretty excited to be making.

I shoot with just a set of primes - 28mm, 50mm and 105mm

Great for pleasure shooting but turned in to a bit of a chore when I was second shooter on a wedding recently!

Oddly enough that's what I used when I started using an SLR 35+ years ago, and to which I have pretty much returned recently. I can even live without the 50 these days! Zooms have their uses, but those three can do most things for me. YMMV etc.

You'll soon get to the point when you find zooms scary. You'll mount one on your camera and go "Wooooaaahhhhh!" when you zoom :D

35mm and 135mm for me, using a zoom feels very, very weird now but I have a 70-300 for motorsport until funds allow for a 300mm f4.

I find myself using the 35mm about 90% of the time, I don't miss zoom at all.

I think I was holding onto the 24-70 "just in case" a situation like a wedding etc arose, but it never did, and even so there are many amazing wedding photographers who use only primes. Although I'm sure it's on two or more bodies.
