Short story about my daft day and a silver lining.
Well one of my specialist vans blew its water pump on Saturday, my one...ha-ha.
I collected the new pump, but because I decide to do a few other things while were in their, it also needs a specialist tool to sort the job fully,
...so this morning one of the new guys you can't quite understand the technical stuff yet, makes kind of two trips to purchase it, get confused every time and returns and asks if I can go with him to show him whats what... in good temper still; I go with him in his van ...which is nicely painted but very tatty on the inside and it needs me to push start it when he stalls at a set of lights , then, as if he wasnt embarrassed enough, would you flipping believe it, he goes and gets pulled over by the police for late road tax and they also they find he has an outstanding warrant against him for not paying fines
So his nicked on the spot and hes in the cell right now pending charges.
So then I have to use a bus for the first time in years. I get the tool, catch a few more buses and eventually get back about 1oclock ish only to find that because he was so worried about getting the correct tool he took the replacement pump with him as a clue, (which is daft because the pump has nothing to do with the tool) .only thats in the back of a van and the keys are in some drawer in Ilford police station.
Youve got to laugh eh.
So In the mean time, while I wait for info, Ive been spending the rest of the afternoon getting very interested in a pair of fledgling Blackbirds, after about an hour of sitting very still I realised I needed more cover. I found these two parents very wary, the slightest hint of trouble and they wouldnt show themselves until totally sure the coast was clear. So out came an old workshop blanket and some clothes pegs for pinning it onto a bush, a small stool, a tripod, cut two holes in blanket one for viewing and the other for the lens.
Climb into the bush nice cuppa tea, sorted. About half an hour later they where totally ignoring me and feeding and fledging had started again in earnest.
Ive never really been into bird watching, but after spending an afternoon waiting and watching totally hidden behind my makeshift hide eventually anticipating there moves and catching them fully. I can honestly say it was very exciting, I recommend everyone try this...the bush and blanket...patent pending. Lol.
Really made my day, I couldnt give a damn about my water pump now .and I still havent heard for the numbskull anyway.
Wasn't so short was it...Soz about all the green. No choice in my garden.
All but one taken with the my Tamron: quite slow speeds, 80-125 arround f6 between 200 and 320 iso. All sharpend just a tad...possibly not enough on the mum.
