You might of seen it in a post a few week back, but I was just wondering what settings I should have my D3000 On for this event.:help:

Thank you kindly

I will be using the standard equipment you get with the Nikon D3000, It being with the 18-55mm VR Lens.

The event is held at Satans hollow manchester, I cant find any images on the net, but its like a red/dark event, Aka satan lol Erm, But the lighting isnt to bad.

You will struggle a huge amount with the kit lens,

You need a faster lens, something like a 50mm F1.8 is a good start and can be picked up quite cheap. The shutter speeds on the 18-55mm Kit lens are not going to be fast enough at all, even with ISO1600 i'm affraid, you might get a couple of keepers, but nothing special I'm affraid

You need earplugs, fast glass, no flash. Earplugs are the most important of the 3. In front of big speakers for work = not good without protection.

Don't be afraid to crank the iso, A or M mode, spot metering, blast out as many frames as you can. Good holding technique and shoot particularly when there's lots of light (eg crowd blinders are up, though the light outta them is kinda ugly)

Hi DJ,
Yes, agree with above posts. Beg, borrow or by a 50mm 1.8 or even better 1.4, a stop better. You will need to be up close with a 50mm and be on 1600ISO. Sometimes the lighting guys will give the act 'white spots' and this really improves your shots. You will find with the heavy coloured lights that focussing is really hard, if you can, wait for the brighter stuff.

This shot was 1600 1.4 1/250 [but strange things happen because you are shooting into bright spots] Try and position yourself so the spot is directly behind performer]
