That's better m8 - I thought she had applied her make-up with a palette knife in the first one!

Looks like an on-camera flash, where you've then reduced the contrast a bit too much so the black shadows aren't even close to black

Otherwise, good shot I guess - does she like it?

I'd open it in Levels and muck about with the black & gamma slider to increase contrast

DD's is better, but then hes not got the detail you have to play with. As said you've pulled back the contrast a bit too much.
